nana’s green tea – Where Matcha Meets Dessert Bliss

nana’s green tea, often called the “Starbucks of Japan,” has opened several locations worldwide, including a new spot in Vancouver’s Olympic Village. They used to be in Kerrisdale but made the move recently. Prices are on the higher side, but we were lucky to catch their $10 set meal (available from 8PM to closing, October 10-31, 2024), which includes a drink and dessert. Matcha is my go-to — who can resist a healthy treat that tastes amazing (we’ll ignore the calories for now)?

We went with a matcha latte and a hojicha latte, paired with a matcha basque burnt cheesecake and a matcha roll cake.

Matcha Latte & Matcha Basque Burnt Cheese Cake

The matcha latte had a bold, refreshing matcha flavor, more on the bitter side, and wasn’t too creamy. The cheesecake, though, was super creamy and packed with flavor—a perfect match!

Hojincha & Matcha Roll Cake

The hojicha latte had a lovely toasted flavor and just the right sweetness compared to the matcha latte. As for the roll cake, it was a bit dry and light on matcha flavor, with a rougher texture.

Overall, it was a solid experience and definitely something to treat yourself to once in a while. I’ll be back for that basque cheesecake for sure! Are you team matcha or team hojicha? Let me know in the comments!
